How often do I need to get my gas appliance serviced?

Be sure to get all gas appliances in your home serviced regularly. Gas appliance retailers Rinnai advise doing this at least every two years. It’s a good idea to do it at the end of summer to beat the autumn/winter rush.

Use only an authorised gasfitter to carry out the work. It’s illegal (and dangerous) for anyone else to do it and you could also invalidate your home insurance.

Once the appliance has been serviced and is safe to use, your gasfitter will supply you with a gas safety certificate to file safely.

Hi David

Looking at where Clinton is placed we either have resources in both Dunedin or Invercargill, challenging to
say which is the closest to you. If you would like to give us a call on 0800 RINNAI and we can book this for you.

I have been talking to registered gas fitters about getting my fire serviced, but have been told they do not issue a new gas safety certificate for this. They say that the invoice and receipt is proof of servicing and therefore updates the original gas certificate supplied when the fire was installed. Is this correct?

Hi Jay

you will need to take this up with the PGDB (Plumber, Gasfitter and Drain layers Board), there are different certificate for the level of gas fitting work that was undertaken,. We as in Rinnai, when we service we provide our customers with an attendance report and gas cert combined.
